Art is what gives breath to many aspects of life.
Its diversity and complexity makes it hard to really bring out the true meaning of the word.
From Painting, Drawing, Sculpting, Poetry, Graphic / Web Development, just to name a few, the passion for creating something new and better never ends. It is a great pleasure to see the result born out of the imagination from an idea conjured up in the mind. Be it a wild, calm or a conservative outcome, it is always an artists? agony whether the audience is going to appreciate the work produced. So anxiety and anticipation is always accompanied with every unveiling of an artwork. But these are just the sentiments of one Essy Wambui.
Born and raised in Kenya, Essy has had her share of ups and downs just like everybody else - times when moving on from great setbacks along the path of life seemed hard and rather impossible. But like many of us, there is always that thing that keeps us ticking, keeps us going.
She found that in the diverse world of art. “You can never know enough. So I like to keep rediscovering new things. Walking by the streets and seeing something I have done always gives me this deep satisfaction.” Through what most of us would call fate, Essy met Lawrence Mbugua aka Lawi in April 2004, and together they managed to build and hold together Spectrum Multimedia Communications - a Corporate Communication Consortium.
The mission of SMC is to help organizations look great. This is done by providing businesses and organizations with a Corporate Image that inspires their owners and enables them to emotionally connect with their customers. The straightforward way of doing things is designed to let the client control every step of the concept development process. “The greatest achievement in my life was working with Lawi on the Corporate Branding of Family Finance Building Society to Family Bank. The energy and motivation that Lawi elicited gave me the strength to go on even when I thought otherwise. He did the Corporate Design Manual which has the guidelines on how to re-brand everything, from changing the logo to the measurements to be used on road signs. It was a great responsibility but with great team work it was a success. We have also been working closely with the Italian Organization in Kenya, Redykyulas Limited, Kajairo Moments Entertainment, True Blaq Limited, among other institutions.”
With an urge to write, Essy has written a couple of poems, some for people when being straightforward seems cliche and others just for personal pleasure. “Writing poetry for me captures that moment and time when the words were created and put down, and referring to these poems after a while feels like opening a portal to another world and another time that I lived.”

Essy is also a model, doing product promotions. She has worked with Thika Institute of Technology doing TV and Poster Ads, Triton doing a newspaper ad for the launch of a new LPG gas product among others.
“I get my inspiration mostly from nature, the things that happen around me and the people who are in my circle. US-based Producer/Artist Chava of JointYaChava Music has been a great inspiration in most of the things I have achieved in the recent past and I have much to thank him for. Working with him on various projects is and always will be a pleasure. He has this infectious energy that surrounds him - an urge and power to create and entertain. That and much more earns him Kudos from me and his fans.”
As a hobby, Essy does Music, singing with the church band back at her local church, and also likes to participate in various sporting activities like table tennis (ping pong) and basket ball. “Music and sports aside, just sitting on my PC, coming up with new concepts and themes for different items just makes my day. And of course the poetry! It hasn?t been easy but looking back at the days gone, I can not help but thank God for the far he has brought me, the doors he has opened along my path and the future he holds in store for me. Like I always say, - So far, so good.”
