Pedestrian Bridge: Mugumo Village in Nanyuki, Kenya

Recently, a flooded river that was overflowing the bridge swept a 7-year-old girl, Pricilla Mwihaki, off this rotting log to her death. A firm pedestrian bridge will not only ensure that such a tragedy never happens again but also invigorate trade since farmers will be able to carry their goods across to the market regardless of the weather.

It becomes virtually impossible for children to go to school during rain seasons. By building this bridge, we will keep children in school and prevent them from facing the fate of Pricilla. A preliminary estimate puts the cost of this project at $10,000. A construction professional is going to take a trip down to Mugumo to get me the finer details, final estimates and a building plan of the new bridge.
